This adapter set enables you to run two independent Ethernet devices through a single UTP cable. A standard network cable has eight wires, but only four are used for a standard Ethernet network. The adapters, which are attached to both ends of a network cable, route the signals to the correct wires, allowing you to use a standard UTP cable to connect your devices at both ends.
